Feels like you're already like Leonidas himself with everything you do (that pic about inboxes and open tabs made me LOL)! But I suppose he even needed to train from time to time. I like the idea of a shutdown ritual; I'm going to try this one out and see what happens. Thanks for sharing this and for the reminder that work doesn't have to feel like walking through mud!!

Thanks for reading, Michael!

I'm glad the picture made you LOL, it truly does feel like that some mornings. And in entrepreneurship, some days do indeed feel like you're Leonidas himself (small with a small army but mighty) and you're winning, while others feel like you're doing everything wrong and what are you even thinking having your hands in all these pies. Sigh.

The shutdown ritual is an ah-mazing idea, I am a much happier person when I can enforce a reasonable cutoff time (which sometimes can be extra hard when working with several widely different time zones). But, since I've read the book, even when I can't do that, I always enforce the "inventory" of each item and documenting it somewhere (calendar, project management tool, etc) whenever I'm done, even if very late, so my mind can "let go" of it and sleep well.

And no, work doesn't have to feel like walking through mud! We just make it so, for a number of reasons... I've explored a couple, and will continue to do so :)
